Yarraville, Melbourne – What keeps me coming back time and time again to Wee Jeanie? The coffee! I’ve never had a bad cup in the year or so that I’ve been going. I’d never stopped for more than a coffee so I treated myself to more this recently and stayed and had breakfast.
They have a pretty fancy menu and I was torn between getting a more traditional toasted bacon and egg sandwich with the house made relish or the baked eggs. In the end I chose the creamy vanilla rice pudding with rosewater, poached fruit and pistachio, and my oh my it was amazing! It was creamy, but not sickly so and the fruit added the right amount of sweetness. It was like a warm hug on a cold Saturday morning.
Wee Jeanie, as its name suggests, is a wee little café situated right near Yarraville train station. It’s very popular amongst the hipsters and the young mum and dads with their double wide prams. Come on down and grab a seat at the window and eat your breakfast with a side of people watching.
