When I want a properly made honest bowl of pasta, I either make it myself following mamma’s recipe, or I go to Reggio Lounge.
This vibrant restaurant is located on Stanley St, a happening area in a more local and less stuffy Darlinghurst than the well known Victoria St area up the hill. Stanley is lined with some very good dining options, Reggio being one of my favourites for one of my frequent non-fuss Italian fix. This is a great place for catching-up with mates or a light hearted date.
The restaurant is spacious, energetic and popular, the staff friendly and on-the-case. The food on offer is classic down-to-earth Italian fare and of great quality, from delicious proper prosciutto crudo all the way to a number of primi and secondi options. The wine list is also well put together, with a deliberate range of vinos on offer catering for different tastes and wallets. Inevitably I go for a generous and satisfying pasta proposition, because I like that you can choose what pasta you want with your sauce, it is cooked to perfection and it really makes me feel I am back home in Southern Italy with mamma Maria ordering me ‘mangia!’.
