Book worm peace
Time out in a book store can be soul-replenishing. The quietness of it all, the discovery of new information, the indulgence of a story, the me-time of it all. And of course the smell. New books, old books, the distinct aroma
is enough to make one feel joyously content. Have this wrapped up in Queenslander home and you feel like you’ve come home.
This book shop in Paddington is my special time out place where I go to be alone. I browse the books for sale and then head downstairs to the café area which sprawls out onto a three leveled verandah set in lush green surroundings. It’s a top spot for a coffee and a read but also suited for some lunch and a gas bag with your bestie. There’s enough space to seek out some solace if you are on your own and you’d like some quietness away from the small groups.
The menu consists of items such as caramel slice, lemon curd tart, burgundy pie, vegetable frittata and my choice, the spinach and cheese scroll. Warm puff pastry with this classic filling was perfect for the rainy afternoon when I last visited. Accompanied with a cappuccino and Brisbane News and I was one happy lady.
Book it up and enjoy the peace.
