When I travelled around South America for two months, I put on a kilo a week thanks to my local diet of red wine and steak. It was tough coming home and facing reality but the way I lost it again was by running.
One of my favourite places to run in Sydney is Centennial Park, near Bondi Junction. It’s a large green park featuring gardens, large ponds, statues, historic buildings and sporting fields. It’s roughly circle shaped which is enclosed by a grass track (popular with horse riders) a 4km paved track (popular with runners and walkers) and a ring road (popular with bicyclists).
I head here most weekends and enjoy the feeling of running around the outer paved track while sporting teams compete on the central fields and horses trot past on the nearby grass track. The park also has a play area for kids, a nice cafe and kiosk (perfect for a post run coffee) and, from some angles, city skyline views.
Other great Sydney running hot spots are the Bay Run and Bondi to Coogee track.
