Chocolate of the Gods! – Theobroma (Brisbane)

Max Brenner has competition – and it’s fierce! This chocolate shop has it all, including the infamous chocolate lick (love it or loathe it) and the quality is out of this world. Melted chocolate in a small cup, for those still in the dark about this naughty but very nice treat. Their menu rivals Max Brenner’s for price and variety, offering an array of temping desserts and drinks plus a full breakfast and lunch menu. The French toast is amazing with berry compote that’s so tasty it hurts, if you’re into a sweet start to the day. For something more savoury try the French Omelette on Sourdough. Yum! I’ll be honest, the coffee’s not the best you’ll find in town – what is it with chocolate shops and coffee anyway? But it’s worth it for the food – their slogan ‘food of the Gods’ is not far wrong. And the name? Well, at first I thought this sounded like a chocolate God, but by definition (thanks Wikipedia) …

Theobroma cacao also cacao tree and cocoa tree, is a small evergreen tree in the family Malvaceae, native to the deep tropical region of South America.

A fitting name for a chocolate shop with all the trimmings, including take-home chocolate bars and gifts for those unlucky enough to miss out on the visit.
