Surry Hills, Sydney – Hats off to my favourite Soda indulgence – the macaroni & cheese spring roll invention. It’s more like lard on a plate, but it is incredibly tasty larder disguised as super cheesy pasta and spring roll pastry.
Other to-die-for (not quite in the literal sense… although perhaps) deep-fried and salt-induced treats include The Royale with
Cheese (did someone say Pulp Fiction?) and Big Kahoona burgers as well as the pulled pork nachos, finger-licken’ wings and hot dogs.
There are plenty of one and five dollar dazzlers on different days and live music towards the end of the week to get you into the all American bar mood. It’s an intimate setting with old school chairs & tables, sunken couches and bar stool areas. But the trick is finding the doorway to this hey day getaway. It’s not the standard entry, it’s a 60’s cola vending machine!
So despite your double bypass ramping up to a triple bypass in a matter of seconds, it’s worth it, if only for a once a week or monthly treat. But you can easily work the pounds off by kicking your heels up once the dance floor gets started – YOLO!
