Friendly neighbourhood Mediterranean – by Pauline!
A night at Jim’s culminates with a plate of wobbly, delicate custard and syrupy pastry deliciousness. It’s the Galaktoboureko and it will simultaneously be the highlight and lowpoint of your night. Whilst your head will be lamenting that there is absolutely no way you could fit in any more food, your heart (and stomach) will be grinningly declaring ‘Yes please!’
I guarantee, if you have holidayed in Greece, this convivial restaurant serving authentic grilled seafood, spit roasted lamb, silky saganaki, zesty salads, luscious dips and desserts, will transport you right back there.
The apron-clad, tea towel flung over the shoulder wait staff make it their personal mission to ensure you have an enjoyable night. There is no menu whatsoever. The way it works is you give a little direction of what you like, and anything you don’t, and they will supply you, in swift succession, an assortment of freshly in-house prepared dishes. BYO (no corkage!) your favourite wine or beer to make it the ideal night.
This lively restaurant is more a group of friends up for a rollicking night kind of place rather than, say, a romantic anniversary dinner for two. It’s bustling and boisterous and that is half the reason you go there. Take along your best banter for the friendly Greek waiters and whatever you do, wear loose fitting pants!
