Big heart from little coffee house
Step into this Queenslander cottage and feel the warmth. Locals quietly chat away and staff greet you with a friendly smile. Little Big Man Espresso is a coffee shop positioned amongst beautifully renovated Queensland homes, on a corner plot allowing for an open feel accentuated by the two low-set double windows.
For me this is a regular duck in and out joint for a weekend takeaway coffee, but recently I decided to take it a tad more leisurely and drink-in. You’ll find yourself mixing with many-a-type, from the usual weekend lycra set, to the gym-ready mother posse and the young family crowd. There is a choice of seating inside or out, where they’ve tried to give a slightly off-beat touch with some mismatched furniture and art pieces. It’s kind of working. A seat outside is the best, as you can enjoy the breeze in the shade and have full view of the comings and goings.
The cappuccinos are as expected – full of caffeine flavor, with beans being of Genovese origin. The full range of variations are on offer, including the good old doppio if you’re in need of a double shot hit. Savoury and sweet food delights can be ordered, if you feel the need to extend your Little Big Man experience.
If you’re one to order in advance, they are spruiking their TXT4Coffee App. Handy if you are really on the run and can’t afford to be held up.
All up, it’s a place big on heart and big on taste.
