If you like a pickle, expect to be disappointed. Lucky for me, I’m not a fan of pickles so Lucky Pickle is my kinda place. There is a smattering, token pickled cucumber and carrot here and there, but on the whole, expect a good solid lunch feed with a little twist of class.
Just off behind Crown St, this new upcomer ‘food stop’ as they call it, is always teaming with lunch-breakers loitering on the sidewalk waiting for their $10 baguette, focaccia bread or salad. Many a kitchen hand plug away behind the open counter ensuring your order to delivery time is fast. Having only four sandwich choices probably helps too.
The chicken katsu (schnitzel) is a very popular choice, served in baguette bread, cabbage and an Asian inspired mayo, while the mortadella and mozzarella focaccia bread choice is what I’d call a lighter lunch alternative. A typical pesto spread is taken up a notch to a crusted almond basil mix on this delicious sanga. But the winner I think, is the fresh and healthy roasted carrot and cauliflower salad. Made fresh on the spot, it’s also got an interesting mix of chick peas, almond pieces, baby spinach, rocket, dill and mint all topped off with a few drops of yoghurt and olive oil.
Pick up your Lucky Pickle lunch special, head to the local park and enjoy! The fresh air, away from the office and a lunch special will have you tickled pink and get you through to 5pm knock-off.
