Our pop-up department store
Many 6160 is the ‘next gen’ in terms of pop-up shops and is actually semi permanent- for the next 18 months or so. The concept behind it is to give small creative businesses a springboard to showcase their wares to the general public.
In ‘Many’ (baboom-cha!) senses it is still a ‘department store’ with a diverse range of products and services available, including art and sculpture galleries, vintage and new clothing, furniture, a hairdressers and a coffee place. But it goes beyond the dull humdrum of a department store as there is a sense that it is constantly evolving. The place is now alive and growing. It feels new, exciting and inviting to walk around and feel involved with.
The movers and shakers of Freo mostly run the stores. They are welcoming, smiley and excited to have the opportunity to talk about their products or their skills. I just got my haircut by Lisa (LisaLisaHairsOnFire) and naturally I now feel very cool by association. The embracing vibe of Freo means that everyone is welcome, and so Many is frequented by all.
