Noosa – So apparently the creator of the Noosa Beach House Restaurant and Bar, Peter Kuruvita is a celebrity chef. To be honest I didn’t realise this until I started researching the restaurant at Noosa. With a Sri Lankan background and a recent TV series focused on Mexico I was intrigued.
I will start by saying that although we’ve eaten at both the Bar and the Restaurant – I chose only to review the bar – it just had more of a “coast” vibe and overall provided a more enjoyable experience in my opinion.
With a very “Hamptons” design (think wicker lounges, lots of plantation shutters and a really sunny and open vibe) the bar seems the perfect place to chill out in your shorts and thongs, possibly accompanied by a wet towel or two. With a comprehensive cocktail and drinks list and a willingness to create fabulous mocktails for those of us currently unable to drink we were off to a good start!
The bar has an all day menu with some classic bar faves (such as salt ‘n pepper calamari and a wagyu burger) but also a really interesting mix of Sri Lankan and Mexican options. The Mexican tortilla is delicious and crispy with shredded chicken, avocado and salsa while the salt ‘n pepper soft shell tacos are good too! The prefect blend of fresh flavors to accompany a summer holiday and a cold drink!
You can lounge around in the comfy wicker lounges over your food and drinks for quite some time as the place just has a nice vibe. Over looking Hastings street, it is also the perfect spot to people watch.
