The best thing about taking a road trip out of the city is that you always stumble across something unexpectedly delightful.  What a bonus it is to stop by Maggie’s place when you are cruisin’ through Nuriootpa. Well, iconic South Australian chef and master of maggies 2 - Emmadeliciousness Maggie’s Farm Shop that is. This beautiful venue is located just 20 minutes from ‘Map the Miner‘, one of SA’s ‘Big Things’ (totally worth checking out!) and is the perfect spot to stop for a relaxing bite. Delightful “Picnic Fare” baskets are available. What are these, you may ask? A unique and undeniably delicious idea that peeps seem to adore. They are little wicker baskets filled with everything from pate to cheese and quince paste. Ahhhh-mazing! Maggie Beer style of course. You can also buy ol’ mate Maggie’s products as there is a small market style section with shelves filled to the brim with the best of Maggie Beer. My favourite is the raspberry and pomegranate jam. This, my friends, takes jam to a whole other level. Maggie’s Farm Shop is a cosy little place, perfect for a glass of wine in winter. You can also check out Maggie’s vast collection of birds, but steer clear of the ones located further down the road…pheasant pie anyone?
