Double Bay, Sydney – Sydney has no shortage of good beaches or harbour views. Nor does it have a shortage of cafes. But what is more difficult to find is a relaxed cafe with harbour views. Enter: Redleaf Pool & Cafe.
Redleaf Pool is in fact a small harbour beach nestled in the well-to-do area of Double Bay. Most of its swimmers are locals so it’s much more low-key and blissfully quieter than some of other Sydney’s more well-known beaches.
The cafe is located at the top of the stairs that lead to the beach. As far as cafes go, it’s pretty basic but the coffee is good, the vibe is chilled and the view is simply amazing.
As you sip your coffee you can watch yachts gently bob up and down on the harbour, North Sydney’s skyscrapers stretch to the sky and Sydney’s well-to-do locals frolic in the sun.
Getting to the cafe and Redleaf Pool can be tricky though as their location isn’t obvious from the road. The cafe and beach are located behind the Woollahra Council building (you can enter via the Town Hall’s carpark). Buses 324, 325 and 326 (from the city) and buses 326 or 327 from Bondi Junction all stop near by.
Visit: 536 New South Head Rd, Double Bay; Open: Morning & afternoon whenever it’s sunny; Wallet: Beach access free, cafe coffee from $3.50.
