West End, Brisbane – When I want comfy couches, dappled sunlight, gentle music, quiet service and curiosities galore to go with my breakfast, Depo at West End is the place for me.  Depo can’t be typecast as the introvert’s paradise though, as with its fully stocked bar, gold glittery wall and late hours, it easily transforms into whatever I need it to be.

Experience the divine – Shouk Cafe (Brisbane)

Paddington, Brisbane – If you’re a human in Brisbane you’ve no doubt come across the fanfare welcoming Shouk Cafe to Paddington (behind the Antique Centre). Despite opening just earlier this year, I can firmly say the ravings are valid and Shouk Cafe is already one of  my favourites.  Named for the Hebrew “marketplace”, the menu has a distinct Israeli flavour and I, like the rest of Brisbane apparently, am overjoyed.

Located just near Bunker coffee on Railway tce in Milton is Mrs Luu’s. Owned by the same family who own Vietnamese institution ‘Trang’ in West End, Mrs Luu’s brings fast, fresh and delicious lunches to the Milton dining scene. Whilst this place is not an ambient lunch venue, the food (and the crowd) speaks for itself. I have also heard on the grapevine that when Bernard Fanning is in town, Mrs Luu’s is a bit of a favourite!  [Read more…]
