CBD, Sydney – What’s not to like about this cute and yet surprisingly cavernous tapas bar specialising in Spanish sherry or jerez. You can’t help but be enticed inside when you spy the warm lights of Tapavino in a quiet laneway resplendent with hanging legs of jamon and glistening wine glasses.
If possible eat downstairs where there is a real buzz, however wherever you find a seat you will be treated to fine service with a great working knowledge of the food, wine and of course sherry. There is an extensive menu on a blackboard that spans an entire wall with something for everyone’s palate and an equally long wine list to boot.
The menu is categorised into snacks, food from the sea, food from the land, specials and an entire jamon section, it’s great to mix and match but don’t leave this fine establishment without sampling something from bar jamon.
There are 56 sherries on offer which are served in a variety of forms such as a the traditional Spanish aperitivo, the cocktail (give the Jerez Sour a go) and sangria. If sherry isn’t your thing there is wine, champagne and spirits a plenty. Wine can be served by the glass or in a range of carafe sizes.
Tapavino is a great addition to the city and a much classier version of the more familiar tapas bars on offer.
