A cold refreshing schooner out in the sun at your local, coupled with a pub meal and life seems pretty good. In fact, life is extraordinarily good when you visit this local – The Albion Hotel in the inner northern suburbs.
Unofficially, louts, bogans and yobbos are on the nose and appear to stay well clear of this place, which for all these Albion Hotel goers is just fine. You see this pub is more of a classier watering hole where well-heeled locals and plenty of families come to enjoy a Sunday lunch out in the courtyard or soak up the air-con in the marbled decked-out dining room.
Our visits have included tucking into mouth-watering steak sandwiches, succulent char-grilled chicken BLTs and juicy lamb wraps. The chips are chunky, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My weakness is a hot potato chip, lending me to be named a squawking seagull on occasion (keen to finish off everyone else’s fries!), in particularly when we visit this pub. These chips don’t lie.
There are plenty of hang-out areas at the Albion, including the leather couches where you can kick-back and watch the latest footy match, to the high-tabled and high-stooled space nicely positioned at the bar, through to the obligatory punters room if a little flutter is calling. The little extra though is the wine cellar boasting a floor to ceiling vino rack. This looks to be perfect for a celebratory group dinner or a premium ‘show off to clients’ work luncheon setting.
Slide into your kitten heels, pull on your good pair of jeans and hit this local – you’ll be glad you did.
