The Beresford Hotel – by Dave
The Beresford Hotel is the pub you wish you had in your home city. This sprawling, recently-refurbished drinking spot has a fantastic beer garden, a sit-down Italian restaurant and attracts a fun, good-looking crowd.
Visually, the pub pulls-off old school charm with modern touches such as a long oval bar and funky bathrooms.
The downstairs area is best for laid-back drinking while upstairs, when open, is all about live music, DJs and even a little bit of dancing.
Centrally located between two of the city’s main going-out neighbourhoods, it’s a great place to start your night or meet friends before hitting the restaurants and clubs of Surry Hills, Darlinghurst or Oxford St.
The pub can get quite crowded in the evenings and entry queues form on some Friday Saturday nights. On Sunday afternoon it goes gay and the beer garden overflows with Sydney’s buffest boys.
A good nearby option for a meal is Pizza Mario.
