The food truck revolution is here!
In Brisbane, The Bun Mobile started the revolution. Think one style of food done really well and served from a fancy truck and you’ve about got it! The Bun Mobile serve a fresh take on the humble steamed Asian bun. It’s kind of a steamed bun, crossed with a hamburger and it’s good. Very good.
There’s a wagyu beef bun served with soy pickled shitake mushrooms and a secret recipe dragon sauce – one of my personal favourites. Also on the menu are a teriyaki chicken bun with hoisin and Japanese mayo, and a pork bun with pickled cucumber and shallots. There do tend to be specials – usually at least one savoury and one sweet addition.
To find this gourmet food truck, you have to check out their website or follow them on Twitter. We’re lucky enough that they often set up in a number of venues not too far from our home. You can also post requests for where you’d like them to go – close to a workplace is often a winner! They’ve recently started selling soft drinks and will often set up somewhere near a great coffee or wine venue so you can have the full experience. We were lucky enough to have recently spent time in NYC and were able to try similar buns at Baohaus and Momofuku. We are pleased to say that The Bun Mobile well and truly stacks up!
