A pub to impress
Good pubs are not hard to find in Sydney, but great pubs are a rarer find. For a great pub which has that local feel and is virtually undiscovered by tourists, the Duck Inn Pub and Kitchen is certainly the right choice.
This place is fantastic for a weekend (boozy) long lunch with friends but it is also family friendly. Tucked away on a side street in Chippendale (yet not too far from all the action of Surry Hills), this joint manages to be spacious and airy yet intimate. You feel like you have walked into a small, posh English town’s gastro pub. I know my London friends would agree!
The beers on tap are boutique and interesting. The beer garden is just precious and such a great space to spend a few hours sipping away whilst telling your mates the crazy things that happened to you this past week (‘and then she said’- ‘ and then I was like, you know, oh my God!’).
The bistro section of the pub is great for a slightly more formal dining experience or for families with kids. The friendly staff and the delicious food complete the overall proposition. The menu includes pub classics (I’ve had the burger a couple of times and have always been impressed) and some more elaborate grub.
Leave the car at home, you might find that you are coming to the Duck for one and end up stumbling out a few hours late. Or is that just me?
