The Soundtrack to my life – By Dave!

When the sun is shining and the weekend is waning, then a great drinking option to head to with your posse is Byblos.

Situated on the edge of the Brisbane River in a relatively-new (but somewhat soulless) development, Portside, Byblos is a Lebanese tapas restaurant and bar. Picture big arches, cushioned alcoves  and, most importantly, flattering lighting. The food is good although, not being a huge tapas fan (I always leave hungry), I tend to stick to the drinks menu. When the weather is good, there’s also the option to sit outside and bask in the sun by the river. Bliss! Byblos 2

On Sunday afternoons, which is the only time I seem to head here, a DJ entertains the crowd with some funky house tunes. I love this music, partly because it takes me back to my early 20s and partly because it’s an uplifting way to end the weekend. It’s like listening to the soundtrack of my youth.

The crowd is mixed, ranging from extended families enjoying long lazy lunches to your beautiful things enjoying a pre-drink before Sunday partying.

With sunshine on your face, uplifting tunes in your ear and beer in your belly, it feels like it might just be the endless weekend.
