Giant pink rooftop Elephants? Check. Random collection of taxidermy animals? Check. Tiki hut courtyard bar teeming with hipsters? Check.
One could be forgiven for discounting this little gem tucked away in a corner of Windsor as an ‘old man’ pub from the exterior, except for one clue: three giant, pink elephants adorning the rooftop. Enter the main bar and the animal theme continues, with a veritable menagerie of squirrels, unidentified birds and peacocks to party on with.
As interesting as the interior décor is, it’s the courtyard out back that’s the real drawcard here. Shady, breezy and decked out with bamboo and colourful stained glass, this is the perfect spot for a Friday after-work beverage, with funky beats in the background and a buzzy vibe to boot. But get in early if you want a seat, somebody let the secret out and it can become standing room only pretty quickly!
The food is pub grub with a Middle Eastern twist, the drinks list is a standard pub affair, but it’s a great place to start or end the weekend, especially in summer. And don’t be put off by the hipsters, they just add to the randomly curated aesthetic of this place.
