Perfect inside or out! by Maria!
The Commons is one my favourite winter pubs but with the return of summer, it’s fast becoming one of my warmer months’ favs to! Located in trendy Darlinghurst, The Commons is a little pub that could easily be walked past, however I urge you to walk in.
I always enjoy the the casual yet sophisticated atmosphere of the pub. The outside courtyard is the perfect place for a lazy summer brunch as it’s open enough for the sun seekers to get their fix while it’s also got enough cover for shade-seeking diners. The inside areas remind me of an authentic English pub in London! Long tables, cosy warmth and smiling faces of waiters only too eager to get you another drink! The food menu is pub food, not quite gastro pub but not simple fare either! Every time I am in a pub setting I crave a pie for some reason. No other environment brings that out in me! And the beef and red pie served with hearty mash I devoured was totally worth the 1000 calories!
The best part of The Commons though is the hidden gem of a bar that is downstairs. Not even I knew about it the first couple of times I went! The downstairs bar is cosy and often has a live band playing all sorts of acoustics, but mainly jazz and funk. There is table service downstairs ( love it!) with a large array of drinks to be chosen. The Prosecco – as always – is amazing!
