A coffee roaster to boast.
This is a significant departure from my bent on writing about places serving good beer. Typika has none of that. However, as a favoured local with a twist it’s worth sharing with my friends.
Located in the ever-evolving suburb of Claremont, Typika transformed a huge commercial space left vacant by a mini-mart into an in-house artisan coffee roaster and bustling café. It’s clear Typika plans to spread their seed (coffee been) far and wide into other cafes as part of their wholesale business plan. However, the endless streams of punter gracing tables for breakfast and lunch have established Typika as a favoured breakfast-brunch-lunch hotspot for locals.
The coffee is good (and you can always take some fresh beans home). The food is surprisingly good. My pick for breakfast is the spiced beef benedict with poached eggs and harissa hollandaise. For lunch the caramelised beef ribs are the best I’ve had in Perth. For $32 you want something special and the beef rib delivers… although the side coconut salad is a bit of an afterthought. (I must try harder for my vegetarian readers!)
I’ve recommended Typika to others before and it’s always delivered. So give it a go for the roasting vibe, good food and something a little interesting.
